Inspiration To Do BIG Things from Michael Fanuele

by Steve Wallace on September 25, 2012 · 0 comments

‘People aren’t inspired to do small things.’

-  Michael Fanuele

It was a standing room only crowd in what was actually a bar –  Kieran’s Titanic room. As such, there really weren’t chairs, but barstools. So no one wanted to sit and there really wasn’t room to sit. But it made a perfect locale for one of the more boisterous, opinionated and passionate speakers to grace the Advertising Federation of Minnesota’s (Ad Fed) programming stage to unleash his ideas. Fallon’s Chief Strategy Officer, Michael Fanuele, led his presentation by letting everyone know he had dramatically changed his presentation. It was the first time he had presented these thoughts –,and it was a thesis of his ideas that really keeps him going. This is what keeps him passionate and inspired. This is what makes advertising relevant and inspiring to him and multitudes of others.

The basis of this was when people had the courage to do great things — great advertising, incredible ideas and enormous shifts in attitudes can, and do, occur. The litany of great examples led to a stirring and a buzzing in the room, — then again, it could have been the libations. Yeah, that definitely had something to do with it. But it was also – you know when a speaker believes fervently what they are preaching, that gets contagious.

To attempt to “summarize” an hour-long impassioned tirade on the wonders of the advertising industry by one of its most respected planner/strategists in a paragraph is silly and pointless. Mere written words can’t do it justice. You have to see it and experience it. Sadly this was not recorded – but his preamble can be seen here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=guoX1YD0jHE#!

This was the first of a dozen programming events free to all Ad Fed members in 2012/2013.
