Ad 2 Minneapolis is excited to announce its partnership with The BrandLab and the re-launch of its public service program.
If you’ve heard of The BrandLab, their selection as an Ad Fed partner for 2012 is probably obvious. Since it was founded several years ago, The BrandLab has reached out to an ever-increasing number of classrooms around the Twin Cities, exposing students of various socio-economic backgrounds to the potential of a career in advertising.
The classroom work is its strong base, but far from the only thing the BrandLab concerns itself with. Agency partnerships, student internships and ongoing support through college and beyond all falls under The BrandLab’s expanding purview.
Ad Fed has been asked specifically to assist The BrandLab, whose staff is almost completely part-time, to plan, promote and execute a co-hosted event in September. Broadly, we’ve tasked ourselves with engaging more people in The BrandLab’s mission, which is quite far from selling high school students on the potential of a life in advertising and marketing. At its core, The BrandLab is about exposing the opportunity to pursue a career that utilizes creativity on a daily basis to reach and connect with others.
Sound like the new business pitch?
That’s too bad. Far too often, the opportunities we’re given on a daily basis are allowed to slip into routine, fade into PowerPoint or bump up against each other in Outlook. In one sense, volunteering with The BrandLab is a humbling experience. It’s hard to make what you do every day sound inspiring, because you’re so rarely asked to be inspired by it.
On the other hand, it’s incredibly motivating. It’s an opportunity to reconsider why we’re here and what inspired us in the first place. It’s an opportunity to deconstruct the business pitch and the emotional connections that have become commodities and find the truth in them again.
Still sounds like a new business pitch?
Who do you want standing beside you at that pitch in five, six years? The BrandLab is trying to help people who don’t know the table exists, to find a seat at it. And that’s why Ad 2 is proud to announce them as our public service partner for 2012.
